Read This Before Setting Up a Family Budget

Money problems have lead to the downfall of many couples. Neither one of you likes how the other spends most of the money. Maybe she’s a shopaholic and buys more than the family can possibly ever use, or he could hold a tight rein on the purse strings and not provide the things his family needs. Although there are certainly other reasons, lack of money seems to cause the most problems. Having to cut back on spending has lead to many disagreements between couples.

So they can learn how to use their money properly, it’s usually best that these couples set up a budget sheet. There should be a place setup to hold all of the paid bills and receipts. You could use a photo storage box to hold all of these bills. Keeping everything organized in this way instead of throwing it haphazardly into a box under the bed will help you find materials that you might need against as well as have everything at your fingertips when tax time rolls around. Since the IRS recommends keeping all paperwork for a minimum of three years in case of any audit, you might want to start three boxes, one to house the papers for each of the years.

Your computer can be another great budgeting tool. Start with a blank spreadsheet and type these headings across the top: groceries, housing, credit cards/loans, car expenses, savings, entertainment, chartible contributions, and a miscellaneous columm. You could put the months on the left side of the spreadsheet. This will give you a place to keep track of your various expenses during the calendar year. At the end of every month you’ll be able to total the expenses under each tab in your file box and place the totals under the appropriate heading. You have to add up all the different columns at the end of the year. It will be much easier to file taxes if you have everything calculated already.

You could even choose to total each month separately. This will give you a better idea of your monthly expenses. If you find that expenses are greater during certain months, you can easily find out why. Doc No.wslsdhgt-sdgewa
