When it comes to shopping for personal recorders, you are going to find that there are a lot of options out there. You want a portable recorder that is handy and of high quality. So, when we heard about the Zoom H2 Handy Portable Stereo Recorder, we were intrigued, especially since the words portable and handy were right in the name of the device. The idea behind this device is that it will give you stereo recording and that it will be very easy to use. Admittedly, this could come in handy at musical performances, conferences, seminars, college courses, podcasting and rehearsals. However, is the sound quality good enough?
When we tested out the H2 sound quality, we were actually very impressed. It has very good recording quality, no matter what it is that you are recording. Both instruments and voices sounded great.
The Four Mics
Now, at first, we weren’t sure why the Zoom H2 would need four microphones, especially since all of the top recorders on the market only have two of them. Apparently, it is for 360 degree recording.
How Easy Is It To Use?
Now, we already mentioned that the Zoom H2 Recorder will give good sound, but it is really handy? Is it really going to be all that easy to use? The fact is, all you need to get started in one button and you will be set to start recording. This is great since there are a lot of devices out there that make recording difficult. One of the side of the device there are controls that will help you set the exact level you want. It is all very easy.
Is it Convenient?
Once we established that the H2 sounds good and that it is easy to use, we wanted to check it out further to see whether or not it is actually all that portable. Honestly, since it has four microphones, can it really be all that portable? Surprisingly, the H2 only weighs a whopping 4 ounces. It will easily fit into your pocket and it also comes with a stereo cable, earbuds, a tripod stand, a USB cable, a microphone clip adapter, an extra memory card and an AC adapter.
When we first used the Zoom H2, we were skeptical because we’ve used portable recorders before and most of them were shoddy at best. Luckily, we didn’t have that problem with the H2. It offers great sound, 360 degree recording, it’s easy to use and it fits in your pocket. Apparently, the handy and portable are good names for this surprisingly new recorder that is sure to surprise anyone who uses it.
